Six-Dogs-Street-Night-01

The transformation of five previously autonomous spaces into a cultural centre offered the opportunity to define a street in the centre of Athens. The very restricted budget became the inspiration and the conversion occured with minimum means and no additions.  The gradual shifting in program and time of use (cafe, gallery, gig space and night club) is revealed through paint: each space is fully covered in a subsequent shade from white to black so that the spaces are simultaneously unified and given individual identity. The unification is amplified by a continuous fluorescent strip of colour behind the façade and large communal tables that stretch across the street.  The desaturated interior creates sharp contrast with the vibrancy and vigor of the hidden garden in the back.
